Chris Bruntlett, Dutch Cycling Embassy

As International Relations Manager, Chris brings a diverse set of skills to his role at the Dutch Cycling Embassy, including writing, photography, filmmaking, podcasting, public speaking, and digital media management. He first visited the Netherlands in the summer of 2016, and quickly fell in love with its seemingly effortless bicycle culture, and unique approach to transport planning. This cross-country tour inspired him to co-author the book, “Building the Cycling City: The Dutch Blueprint for Urban Vitality”, which shines a spotlight on the incredible (and often underappreciated) achievements of the Netherlands as the world’s foremost cycling nation. Chris uses his knowledge and passion to share practical lessons for global cities wishing to follow in their tracks, and become better places to live, work, play, and—of course—cycle.

Doug Gordon, The War on Cars

Doug Gordon is a co-host of The War on Cars, the popular podcast aboutcar culture, mobility, the future of cities and the worldwide battle to undo a century's worth of damage wrought by the automobile.

Doug is alsoa writer, TV producer, safe streets advocate and passionate believer in cities for people. He isfrequently quoted in the press about New York's livable streets revolution andhas written for The Guardian, The New Republic, Salon, Curbed, Jalopnik, The New York Daily News and Streetsblog.

As a TV producer with credits for PBS, ABC, Discovery, History, Travel and NatGeo, Doug knows how to tell a good story. Through his media consulting firm Brooklyn Spoke Media, he has advised nonprofits, governments and mobility companies on communications strategies that make the case for safer, smarter streets.

Doug is a tireless advocate for safe streets for cyclists and pedestrians and helped establish New York's "LPI bill," which makes people on bikes safer at intersections. He has also been instrumental in the fight for expanding the city's bike lane network. He lives in Brooklyn with his wife Leora and their two children. He does not own a car.

Lieske Streefkerk-Arts, Counselor for Transportation and Environment, Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands

Mrs. Lieske Streefkerk-Arts has over 20 years of experience in different areas of the Ministry of Infrastructure and Water Management of the Netherlands. August 2020, she was appointed as Counselor for Transportation and Environment at the Royal Netherlands Embassy in Washington DC. In her last position at the Ministry, she was commissioned by the Secretary General to develop a new strategic direction for the Ministry as a whole. Previously, she held managerial positions in different parts of the Ministry.

From 2015-2019, Lieske was Head of International Shipping, Head of Delegation for the Netherlands in the UN International Maritime Organization in London, and Board Member of the Administrative Board of the European Maritime Safety Agency in Lisbon. Before that, she was among others Head of Public Transport and Railways, Deputy Director at the Inspectorate for Housing, Spatial Planning and the Environment and Head of Innovative Procurements at the Government Buildings Agency.

Lieske’s first relationship with the USA stems from 1989/1990, when she was a foreign exchange student and graduated from Rushville High School in Nebraska. She then went to university in the Netherlands. She did her Master’s research at the University of East Anglia in Norwich, UK, and in 1997 she obtained a Master’s degree in Public Administration from the University of Twente, the Netherlands.
