Hackathon Dutch Cycling Lifestyle AI - Sign up now

Netherlands Board of Tourism & Conventions (NBTC) is the owner of Dutch Cycling Lifestyle AI. A tool that allows anyone to reimagine their street by adding a touch of Dutch to their street through Generative AI. Since its launch in October 2023, Dutch Cycling Lifestyle has been a massive success, reimaging well over 1.7 million streets by leveraging Generative AI. Now the tool has been made open source, the final step in this project is to organize a hackathon to challenge current and future urban change-makers, tech/AI enthusiasts and anyone interested in the application of the technology behind Dutch Cycling Lifestyle.

The Hackathon

The hackathon will be a hybrid event. We welcome partcipants on a fysical location in The Netherlands as well as online. We have room for 40 participants spread into teams with a minimum of 2 and maximum of 5 participants per team. Student participation is encouraged and welcomed. An ideal team would be a mix of tech, urban planners and change-makers. The hackathon is a 2 day event:

  • Day 1: Teams get to work on their preferred challenge while being coached by the builders of the Dutch Cycling Lifestyle AI tool and various professionals in the field of urban planning. Coaches will be both on site and available online.
  • Day 2: Teams get to pitch their work for a group of judges. A prize will be awarded to the winning team.

Overall theme

The overall theme for this event is to reimagine streets with the help of AI. The hackathon is centered around the Dutch Cycling Lifestyle AI tool which is a custom Stable Diffusion model and workflow that can turn any (streetview) image into a pedestrian and cyclist friendly environment.

The builders of the tool will be present as coaches during the event. Teams can either modify or extend the existing tool to add new possibilities or use the tool to make an impact in current day challenges.
