National Park Veluwezoom
The view from the Posbank
If you go to Veluwezoom National Park, a visit to the Posbank is a must. The Posbank is a 90-metre-high hill, making it an iconic vantage point in the park. It is known for its beautiful views over the forests and purple heathlands. On a clear day, you can see as far as 20 km, with rolling hills and nature stretching to the horizon. The Posbank attracts many visitors, especially when the heather is in bloom in August.
Red deer mating season
There are two wildlife observation posts on the Veluwezoom, allowing you to observe the local wildlife without disturbing the animals. September and October are red deer mating season, during which time male red deer attempt to impress females by roaring (‘burlen’ in Dutch). It’s a spectacle that you don’t want to miss if you’re visiting the Veluwezoom. The park organises excursions during this period, giving you a chance to safely observe these spectacular natural phenomena.
